About Us

The Yarmouth County Learning Network is a community organization that provides FREE upgrading opportunities to adults in Yarmouth, NS. Our unique programs teach reading, writing, and math skills to adults so they can achieve their high school diploma or GED, enhance their literacy and numeracy, or get assistance with dyslexia. 

Our Mission is simple. The Yarmouth County Learning Network improves lives through literacy. We are committed to helping learners reach their full potential by providing high-quality education; ensuring a safe teaching and learning environment; and, most of all, treating learners with respect and dignity.

The Yarmouth County Learning Network has over 20 years of experience working with adults who want to improve their opportunities, achieve financial independence, and increase community involvement.  Whether you are looking to better your reading and writing skills, get your GED, obtain your high school diploma, our qualified instructors will build a personalized program to help you achieve your goals!

Level One

This classroom program runs Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and is an introductory level course that concentrates on helping adult learners gain basic reading, writing and math skills.

Level Two

This classroom program runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This course introduces adult learners to intermediate-level communication skills, social studies, science, human relations, workplace preparation, and computer skills. As well, the program continues to build math and language arts skills.

GED Preparatory Program

The YCLN is pleased to provide GED prep courses, support, and testing assistance all free of charge. GED prep classes are available both during the day (Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm) and evening (Monday to Thursday 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm).

Our Approach

The Yarmouth County Learning Network primarily serves adults in need of literacy services by offering free upgrading programs that are tailored to the needs, goals, and learning styles of each individual student. We will help you build your skills for success.
